Railways-PSPB to Meet in Inter-Department Men Nationals Final

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSBP) literally threw any semblance of competitive quotient out of the pitch during the semifinal encounter against Sports Authority of India (SAI), handing them a humiliating 9-2 defeat to romp into the final of the 1st Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship being played at Bengaluru.

PSPB, who topped Pool C, had drubbed FCI 6-0, edged out CAG 2-1, drew Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) 2-2, and whipped Major Port Sports Control Board 5-0 in the pool stage, wrested the initiative with an early Sunil Yadav goal. The petroleum outfit rode on a brace each from former internationals Talwinder Singh and Armaan Qureshi as well as goals by ex-internationals Affan Yousuf, Roshan Minz to completely decimate SAI. Abharan Sudev B and Tyron Pereira were the other goal scorers for PSPB. Chetan Mallappa Karisiri’S two goals were of little solace for the SAI outfit.

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSBP) will clash with Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the final to be played on Wednesday. The Railmen recovered after leaking an early goal to nose out Punjab National Bank 4-3 in an exciting semifinal tie. Olympian Amit Rohidas scored alongside Pardeep Singh, Ajmer Singh, and Hira Singh for RSPB. Abhishek pulled off a brace for Punjab National Bank, while Gursimran Singh scored a goal but it was never going to be enough to upset the Railway applecart.
