It’s Raining Goals at Kanwarji Constructions 49th Nehru Junior Hockey Tourney

Goals continue to rain in the Kanwarji Constructions 49th Nehru Junior Boys Hockey Tournament being played at the Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi. As many as 116 goals were scored in the first eight games of the tournament – there were four games where teams have posted in excess of 20 goals over their opponents – clearly reflecting the lop-sided nature of the pool games.

Odisha Naval Tata Hockey Academy clobbered Thakur Pyarelal Singh Higher Secondary School Rajnandgaon 21-0, while Surjit Hockey Academy, Jallandhar pulverised Mary Matha Higher Secondary School Panthalampadam Palakkad 17-0.

In other matches, Guru Gobind Singh Sports College Lucknow whacked Mukherjee Seminary School Muzzaffarpur 15-0, while Raj Karan Hockey Academy, Karnal whipped SR High School, Devgarh, Baria (Gujarat) 8-0.

SGPC, Amritsar smashed Damodar English High School Goa 21-0, while Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy annihilated Thakur Pyarelal Singh Higher Secondary School Rajnandgaon 26-1. St. Ignatius High School, Gumla drubbed SR High School, Devgarh, Baria (Gujarat) 6-0, while One Thousand Hockey Legs edged out Mukherjee Seminary School Muzzaffarpur 2-0.
