Why there should be an ‘extra motivation’ for spectators to come out in droves to watch the prestigious 39th Surjit Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Jallandhar from October 27 to November 4? Well, it’s not just because the organisers have made Stadium entry free for the spectators! But because Surjit Hockey Society – the organisers of the 39th Surjit Hockey Tournament have gone one step forward to ensure spectators are adequately motivated to watch the matches of the nine-day tournament, which is considered one of the biggest domestic tourneys in the country (in terms of prize money and stature).
The Surjit Hockey Society has taken a call to award Maruti Alto Car, Motor Cycles, Refrigerators etc. to the spectators, who will come to witness the matches in Jallandhar. According to the organisers, spectators will get daily lucky coupons till November 4 (final match day) at the entry gate of the Stadium – interestingly, even players would be issued lucky coupons on the day of their first match. The lucky draw would be held on November 4th soon after the conclusion of the final match. The Maruti Alto Car Prize has been sponsored by US-based, leading farmer & transporter, known as Tut Brothers.
Surjit Hockey Society CEO Iqbal Singh Sandhu said the move would encourage more people to watch the 39th Surjit Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Jallandhar. “Our objective is to attract and generate more interest among the general public for our national game of hockey. We are confident that such initiatives would go a long way in encouraging spectators to come out in large numbers for the 39th Surjit Hockey Tournament.”
