Savitribai Phule University, Pune and Punjabi University, Patiala booked their quartefinal spots from Pool C in the SNBP 28th Nehru All-India Inter-University Hockey Tournament (Inter-Zonal Final) at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar, Pimpri, Pune. It may be worth recalling that Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, (VBSP), Jaunpur and Gurunanak Dev University, Amritsar earlier had entered the quarterfinsls from Pool A, while Bangalore City University, Bengaluru secured their passage in the last-eight stage from Pool C.

Savitribai Phule University, Pune thrived on hat-tricks from Taleb Shah and Prajwal Mohakar – Taleb ended up scoring five in the match with Gufran Shaikh and Karan Durga coming to the goal-scoring party. Savitribai Phule University, Pune had earlier clobbered SRM University Chennai 9-0 and lost by a solitary goal to Punjabi University, Patiala. Punjabi University, Patiala eked out a hard-fought 4-3 win over SRM University, Chennai in another Pool C match.

The Pool D is tantalisingly poised with Lovely Professional University, Phagwara moving to the top of the pool after playing out a 2-2 draw against defending champions Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi 3-3. The Varanasi lads are second in pool D after the drawn game while Bangalore University, Bengaluru and University of Mumbai have 3 points each. Lovely Professional University, Phagwara just need a draw to make it to the quarterfinals, while Bangalore University, Bengaluru will need but a win to seal their last-eight stage and can moved ahead of MG Kashi Vidhyapith, Varanasi.
