After the howling success of the Mumbai and Bengaluru editions, One Team One Dream (OTOD) is putting their best foot forward to accelerate the ‘fun & frolic’ quotient in the 3rd R2MI Kreeda Seniors Hockey Carnival that will be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. One Team One Dream has dedicated the 3rd edition of the Seniors Hockey Carnival to the 75th year of Independence joining the nation to celebrate the ’75th Azadi ka Mahotsav’.
Players over 40 years of age would be part of the 3rd Seniors Hockey Carnival. Each match will be played for a total duration of 20 minutes, with a half-time break of 3 minutes at the end of 10 minutes. As many six teams – Union Academy Club, PDSC Gurgaon, Khera Kalan Club, Ghumanera Risers, SH Club, and hosts OTOD would slug it out. This tournament is being sponsored by Bengaluru-based start-up R2MI Kreeda. The organisers are anticipating the presence of some former national players and look forward to the presence of some former Olympians in the two-day event.
“The Mumbai and Bengaluru editions have been a phenomenal success and OTOD is excited about taking Seniors Hockey Carnival forward with the New Delhi leg. Our objective is to get our former internationals and Olympians together. This event is much more than just a 40-plus tournament as it is an enabler for former players to meet on one platform and exchange memories. We look forward to some good competition, nostalgia and camaraderie,” OTOD Secretary Leo Devadoss told Hockey Passion.
The organisers in a bid to encourage all six participating teams are conducting three finals – the third-placed teams of Pool A and Pool B would meet in the Level 3 final, while the second-placed teams of Pool A and Pool B would meet in the Level 2 final. The Pool toppers would battle it out in the championship final. A prize money of Rs 30,000 will be awarded along with trophies. The organisers would also award a Man-of-the-match at all games as well as a Best player & Best Goalkeeper of the Carnival Awards.
This tournament is being sponsored by Bengaluru-based start-up R2MI Kreeda. “We really appreciate R2MI Kreeda coming forward to sponsor this event – they are committed to support all our seven events,” says Devadoss.
It may be worth recalling that One Team One Dream had successfully hosted the 2nd edition at Bengaluru in May 2022 and the inaugural edition at Mumbai in October 2021. Formed in 2010, One Team One Dream (OTOD) comprises a group of passionate hockey fans from all over the country and as well as from the UK, Malaysia, Finland, US, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Belgium among others. In its avatar as a fan club of Indian hockey, OTOD members can be seen rooting for the Indian men and women teams at various international tournaments in India as well as abroad.
