Men’s Asian Champions Trophy: Statistical Rewind – India vs Pakistan

India take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the 6th Men’s Asian Champions Trophy at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in Dhaka. Both traditional rivals have met eight times in the Asian Champions Trophy with India winning five times, playing out a draw once and losing twice.

India and Pakistan played out a 2-2 draw in their first meet-up in the league phase of the inaugural 2011 edition at Ordos – India got the better of Pakistan 4-2 in a shootout in the final of that inaugural edition. India put it across Pakistan 2-1 in the league phase of the 2012 edition at Doha but lost the final 4-5 in a thriller.

A depleted Indian side comprising players preparing for the Junior World Cup went down to Pakistan 4-5 in the league phase of the 2013 edition at Kakamigahara. Since that loss, India have never lost to Pakistan. India defeated their arch-rivals 3-2 in the league stage of the 2016 edition at Singapore and again beat them by the same margin in the final. India had eased past Pakistan 3-1 in the 2018 edition at Muscat.
