Mumbai Hockey Championship: Champions Training Centre, Union Bank Extend Winning Run
Champions Training Centre (CTC) have emerged as the team to watch out for in the 2022 Mumbai Hockey Championship being played at the MHA Stadium in Mumbai. The nine-day championship is being organised by the Mumbai Hockey Association Limited. The Champions Training Centre outfit have maintained a clean slate so far, winning all their three games. The CTC lads kickstarted their campaign with a 7-0 walloping of Republican Sports Club. They subsequently surprised Central Railway 4-1 before brushing aside Abhi Foundation 4-1 to log their third straight win.

Union Bank are another unbeaten team so far – they sneaked past Abhi Foundation 6-4 in their first match and went on sail past Mumbai Customs 4-1 in their second tie and handed out a 4-0 defeat to Republican Sports Club. Abhi Foundation after losing the opening game against Union Bank, regrouped well to edge out Republican Sports Club by a solitary goal before playing a fighting 2-2 draw against Central Railway but were no match against CTC.
Mumbai Customs after their first game disappointment against Union Bank, got into their groove clobbering Republican Sports Club 12-0 – the biggest win of the tournament so far. Republican Sports Club have turned out to be the whipping boys of the tournament losing all their four games, conceding 24 goals and are out of contention for a place in the final. Abhi Foundation are also out of final contention with two losses and one draw. With three wins from three matches, Champions Training Centre and Union Bank are looking good to play in the May 23 final clash.
