2022 Women’s World Cup: India Pitted in Pool B Alongside England, New Zealand, China
Indian women’s hockey team have pitted in Pool B of the FIH 2022 Women’s Hockey World Cup alongside Olympic bronze medallist England, New Zealand, and China as the draw for the showpiece event was announced in Terrassa, Spain. The 15th Women’s World Cup which will be held from July 1-17, 2022, will be jointly hosted by the Netherlands and Spain. Defending champions and hosts Netherlands, 2018 World Cup runners-up Ireland, Germany and Chile are placed in Pool A. Chile will be making their maiden World Cup appearance.
Two-time champions Argentina, Spain, South Korea and Canada are pitted in Pool C, while Pool D will feature mighty Australia, Belgium, Japan, and South Africa. All Pool A and B matches will be played at the Wagener Stadium, Amstelveen while all Pool C and D matches will be played at the
Estadi Olímpic de Terrassa, Terrassa.
It may be worth recalling that the Netherlands have won the Women’s World Cup on eight occasions while Argentina, Australia, and Germany have won it on two occasions. India’s best World Cup performance was a 4th place finish at the inaugural 1971 Women’s World Cup held at Mandelieu, France.
