SNBP 28th Nehru All-India: VBSP University, Savitribai Phule Pune University Sneak into Semis
Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal (VBSP) University, Jaunpur rallied from behind to prevail over Bangalore City University, Bengaluru 3-2 in shootout to scrape into the semifinals of the SNBP 28th Nehru All-India Inter-University Hockey Tournament (Inter-Zonal Final) at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar, Pimpri, Pune. The shootout was applied after Bangalore City University churned out a late equalizer via Haresh Mutagar as the scoreline reas 2-2 at the final hooter.

Earlier, Jaunpur Varsity lads were pushed on the backfoot when Gokavi Vasanth Kumar drew first blood for Bangalore City University in the opening quarter. VBSP ensured they did not have to go into half-time trailing as Manish Sahani restored parity off a nifty penalty corner variation. Pool A toppers went ahead when Vejendra Singh deflected home before the Bangalore City University lads brought things on an even kneel three minutes before the final hooter.
The shootout witnesed Suraj Shahi, Vejendra Singh, Uttam Singh score for VBSP University, while Ganesh Majji and Mutagar Haresh scored for Bangalore City. Savitribai Phule Pune University also made it to the last-four stage after they sneaked out a solitary goal win over Bangalore University, Bengaluru – Taleb Shah scored the match-clincher in the 30th minute.
