Stats Talk: Shane McLeod’s Win-Loss Record as Belgium Men’s Hockey Team Coach
Shane McLeod was appointed as Belgium men’s hockey team coach in late 2015 – he made his debut as Red Lions coach in a 2015 one-off Test match against Spain at Barcelona – a match that ended in a 2-2 draw. Under Shane, Belgium men’s team reached its zenith, winning the 2018 World Cup, 2019 European Championship and 2021 Tokyo Olympics besides the silver-medal finish at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He stepped down from his job after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics to spend more time with his family but in mid-2022 he rejoined the Belgium set-up as an Assistant Coach to Miguel Van Heuvel, who had replaced him after the Tokyo Olympics. Miguel Van Heuvel was replaced as chief coach by Shane McLeod after the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the Red Lions had a disappointing quarterfinal exit.
