Mumbai Hockey Championship: Mumbai Customs Regroup After Initial Reverses
Mumbai Customs was probably down in the mouth after their opening match 1-4 defeat to Union Bank in the 2022 Mumbai Hockey Championship being played at the MHA Stadium in Mumbai. However the Customs lads regrouped and annihilated Republican Sports Club 12-0 to chalk up their first tournament win. They subsequently played out a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Central Railway and whipped Abhi Foundation 7-1 to be very much in the final reckoning and a win against Champions Training Centre (CTC) in their final league tie is just what they need to sneak into the final. However, it won’t be a piece of cake as CTC have maintained a clean slate winning all their first three games.

Central Railway are virtually out of contention for a final berth after their 3-3 draw against Mumbai Customers and subsequently their 2-5 loss to Union Bank. The bankmen are well on their way to the final with four wins on the trot. Unless Mumbai Customers upset the CTC applecart, it does appear that it would be a CTC-Union final on Monday.
I am extremely glad to see Hockey being played at Mumbai Hockey Association Stadium.
Look forward to the day when Hockey will occupy its rightful place among its enthusiasts, this by restoring the Stadium to respectability and ensuring that a capable team of selfless administrators are constituted to a Board to conduct many a Tournament, both domestic and international.
If Oddisha has shown the way, why can’t Mumbai.
