Stats Talk: Jeroen Delmee’s Win-Loss Record as Netherlands Men’s Coach
Jeroen Delmee took over the reins of the Netherlands men’s hockey team after the 2021 Tokyo Olympic, where they finished sixth, making an exit from the marquee event in the quarterfinal stage, losing to Australia in a shootout. A celebrated midfielder, who represented the Netherlands in four Olympics (1996, 2000, 2004 & 2008) and three World Cups (1998, 2002, 2006) replaced Argentinian Max Caldas, who took up a new role as Spain men’s hockey team coach. In fact, Delmee was part of the Dutch gold-winning team at 1996 and 2000 Olympics and also led the national side at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. He was part of the Dutch 1998 World Cup-winning team.
Delmee, who is one among six players to make over 400 international appearances, made his debut as Dutch coach in a one-off Test match against Spain at Cadix which they won 3-1. He guided the Dutch to the maiden 2021-22 Pro League triumph. He was also at the helm during Netherlands’ two series against New Zealand (they won 2-0) and Australia (the series ended in a 1-1 stalemate). He guided the Dutch to glory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
