Indian Railways Retain Surjit Hockey Tournament Crown
There is something about the way Indian Railways plays on the big occasions – the Railmen retained the Surjit Hockey Tournament crown outwitting in-form Indian 3-1 in the final at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jallandhar. The 3-1 scoreline is identical of their 3-1 win over Punjab & Sind Bank in the final of the 2021 Surjit Hockey Tournament – they know how to kill off the competitive quotient in the finals.
This is the third time that India Railways have won the Surjit Hockey Tournament having it won it earlier in 2015 and 2021. Former international Yuvraj Valmiki gave Indian Railways a first-half lead but Indian Oil rebounded via Sumit Kumar in the second half – Sheshe Gowda put India Railways once again in front and they literally took the final away from the oilmen when Gursahib Singh struck in the closing stages.
