Indian Men Pitted Alongside England, Spain, & Wales in Pool D

The Indian men’s hockey team have been awarded a relatively comfortable Pool D alongside England, Spain, and Wales for the upcoming 2022 Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held at at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar and at the Bisra Munda Stadium in Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023. This is the fourth time that India is hosting the Men’s Hockey World Cup after the successful conduct of the big-ticket events in 1982, 2010, and 2018.

At the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup also held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, India were pitted in Pool C alongside Belgium, Canada, and South Africa and they had finished sixth in that edition. Interestingly, the Men’s Hockey World Cup always had two pools – A & B and it was only at the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup that the concept of having four Pools was introduced.

Australia are placed in the potentially Pool of Death (Pool A), alongside Argentina, France and South Africa – this Pool games would be a treat to watch. Defending champions Belgium alongside Germany, South Korea, and Japan are placed in equally formidable Pool B, while Netherlands are pitted in Pool C alongside New Zealand, Malaysia, and Chile
