Three-time champions Netherlands are having a ball in the 9th Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup at Potchefstroom, South Africa. The Orange brigade have emerged as the team to beat, slamming a whopping 38 goals in their three Pool A games. The Dave-Smolenaars-coached Dutch outfit are turning into a mean goal-scoring machine at the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup, winning all their Pool matches by double-digit scorelines. Netherlands hammered USA 10-0 in their tournament opener, and subsequently handed a 11-0 defeat to Canada and further upped their ante, bulldozing Zimbabwe 18-0 to leave no one in doubt who the Pool A toppers are.

Jip Dickle and Luna Fokke have been in blazing form for the Netherlands, collectively scoring 18 of the 38 goals scored so far, with 10 and 8 goals each respectively. Luna Fokke had slammed a hat-trick in their 9-0 win over the USA as well one in their 11-0 win over Canada. Jip Dickle has also turned on the heat, scoring a sizzling a four-goal and five-goal hat-tricks in their 11-0 and 18-0 win over Canada and Zimbabwe. Interestingly, as many as three Dutch girls (Maria Steensma and Noor Omrani besides Jip Dickle) scored hat-tricks in their 18-0 win over Zimbabwe.

Netherlands are widely tipped to have a stroll in the pitch against hosts South Africa in Firday’s quarterfinals given their ominous current form.
