Former Indian Midfielder Gurbaj Singh Gets Married
Former Indian midfielder Gurbaj Singh shed his ‘bachelor tag’ as he tied the knot with Gabbi Kaur at Mohali recently. The 36-year-old, who was considered one of the best midfielders during his heydays, is currently employed as Superintendent of Police at Punjab Police.

The former ace playmaker made his senior international debut at the 2006 Asian Games at Doha where India failed to make a podium finish. He scored his maiden international goal on his debut tourney scoring once in India’s 4-0 win over Malaysia.
Gurbaj represented India at the 2012 London Olympics. His biggest high point came at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, where India won the gold medal after sixteen years – he was also part of the Indian team that won a bronze at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

The Punjab Police player, who also played in the Hockey India League for Delhi Waveriders, was a member of the national side that bagged silver medals at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games at New Delhi and Glasgow respectively.

He last played for India at the 2016 South Asian Federation Games at Guwahati, where they finished runners-up losing to arch-rivals Pakistan in the final. Gurbaj made 171 international appearances and scored 19 international goals. Gurbaj also represented India at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups held at New Delhi and The Hague, respectively.
Former Indian captain and Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Pargat Singh marked his presence for the marriage ceremony among others from the hockey fraternity.
