Deepika Sehrawat Becomes 6th Indian to Score 10 Goals in Any International Tourney
Deepika Sehrawat’s eye-popping performance in the 8th Asian Champions Trophy at Rajir bodes well for Indian women’s hockey. The 21-year-old wrestler-turned drag-flicking forward has been in scintillating form scoring 10 goals in the 8th Asian Champions Trophy playing her part admirably.
Deepika has now become the sixth Indian women’s hockey player to score 10 or more goals in any international tournament – she now joins the likes of Prem Maya, Vandana Katariya, Gurjit Kaur, Surinder Kaur, and Rajbir Kaur, who holds the Indian record for scoring most goals in any tournament – she had pumped in 16 goals in India’s gold-winning run at the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games.
