Great Britain & England Hockey Set to Make Fresh Start Under Newly-Appointed Coach Paul Revington
Paul Revington has been appointed the new head coach of the Great Britain and England men’s hockey teams – he takes over from interim coach Zak Jones, who was in charge of England’s campaign in the ongoing FIH Pro League. The 48-year-old South African joins the new role after serving in the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) as a Technical Director of the national development squad.

Interestingly, this was Revington’s second stint with Malaysia hockey – he had previously worked as the men’s head coach where he led the team to qualify for the World Cup for the first time after 12 years in 2014. However, he stepped down just five months before the 2014 World Cup held in the Hague, Holland, citing health reasons but returned for a brief period as the team consultant. Malaysia cut a sorry figure at the 2014 World Cup, settling for the wooden spoon.

Revington had also served as Head Coach of the Great Britain women’s Elite Development Programme, as well as Assistant Coach of the England and Great Britain senior women’s teams.
