200th International Milestone for Akashdeep Singh
Experienced Indian forward Akashdeep Singh achieved a personal milestone when he appeared in his 200th international against France in the Pro Hockey League opener at Potchefstroom, South Africa. The 27-year-old forward, who is employed with Punjab Police, celebrated the occasion scoring a brilliant tomahawk goal in the third quarter.
Akashdeep is the third player in the current Indian team after skipper Manpreet Singh and PR Sreejesh to have played over 200 internationals. Interestingly, Akashdeep attracted a lot of public attention when he was not picked for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where the Blueshirts won a bronze medal after a hiatus of 41 years.
