OTOD’s 3rd Seniors Hockey Carnival Entertains Delhities

A high dose of entertainment unfolded at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi as the One Team One Dream (OTOD)- organised 3rd R2MI Kreeda Seniors Hockey Carnival lived up to expectations, in terms of offering fun and frolic besides being an enabler for congregation of former Olympians and World-Cuppers. One Team One Dream has dedicated the 3rd edition of the Seniors Hockey Carnival to the 75th year of Independence joining the nation to celebrate the ’75th Azadi ka Mahotsav’.

Union Academy Club won the Level 1 final beating Ghumanera Risers, while PDSC Gurgaon won the Level 2 final beating hosts OTOD. Khera Kalan Club won the Level 3 final beating SH Club. The 3rd R2MI Kreeda Seniors Hockey Carnival was graced by a bevy of former Olympians and World-Cuppers such as Aslam Sher Khan, Ashok Kumar, Harbinder Singh, Gurbux Singh, Romeo James, and Vineet Kumar Sharma. The format of the tournament is unique – teams comprised players over 40 years of age and each match was played for a total duration of 20 minutes, with a half-time break of 3 minutes at the end of 10 minutes.

It may be worth recalling that One Team One Dream had successfully hosted the 2nd edition at Bengaluru in May 2022 and the inaugural edition at Mumbai in October 2021. Formed in 2010, One Team One Dream (OTOD) comprises a group of passionate hockey fans from all over the country and as well as from the UK, Malaysia, Finland, US, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Belgium among others. In its avatar as a fan club of Indian hockey, OTOD members can be seen rooting for the Indian men and women teams at various international tournaments in India as well as abroad.

One Team One Dream President Raja Namdhari said the Seniors Hockey Carnival would comprise seven editions in all. “We intend to host the next leg either in Jammu & Kashmir or Odisha in December, followed by the next leg in Amritsar in March 2023. The winning teams of all seven legs would play in a final to be played in 2024.”
