SV Sunil Enjoying Playing for Defending Champs Mohammedan in Bangladesh Premier League

SV Sunil may have announced a break from international hockey, which has been interpreted as calling time on his international career after the 32-year-old forward was not picked for the Tokyo Olympics. The Kodagu lad has put a full stop to his international career for now, and is now looking to ply his hockey skills in the club hockey circuit.

Sunil is currently in Dhaka, Bangladesh playing in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League that is being played at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium. The man with 264 international appearances for India, is turning out for Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the Premier Division Hockey League. It is important to mention that the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League organized by Bangladesh Hockey Federation is being held after a three-year gap. Interestingly, the club Sunil is playing for – Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are the reigning champions having won the league when it was last held in 2018.

As many as twelve teams are taking part in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League. Sunil is one among the seven foreign players allowed for each team in a squad of 29.  Other teams participating in the league include Mariner Youngs Club, Bangladesh Police, Dilkusha SC, Abahani, Azad SC, Sonali Bank SRC, Sadharan Bima KS, Victoria Sporting Club, Wari Club, Bangladesh Sporting Club, and Ajax Sporting Club. “I’m excited to play for Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the Premier Division Hockey League. Mohammedan are the defending champions and have a robust team. I’m keen to contribute in playing my part in helping Mohammedan win the Premier Division League like we did in 2018,” Sunil sounded bullish in a brief chat with Hockey Passion from Dhaka.
